Conducted a comprehensive energy study to identify energy efficiency improvements at a large shopping mall complex that is being revitalized by its new owner. Recommended measures included upgrades to HVAC and lighting controls, application of skylight solar film, conversion of constant volume HVAC systems to variable volume, improvements to the facility envelope to reduce wasteful infiltration, and major lighting replacements. The study resulted in a 172 kW reduction in peak electric demand and an energy savings of 1.3 million kWh per year, resulting in a $240,000 reduction in annual energy costs.
