Mobil Commercial Vehicle Electronic Screening System, Phase II

As a follow up on the project for the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) through a research contract with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), CHA is researching additional, complimentary screening technology. We are investigating weight-in-motion technology, license plate readers and video recognition systems. These systems are being evaluated for use in electronic screening, as well as for additional uses such as data collection and vehicle dimensioning. Research also includes remote monitoring, as well as newer transponder reader technology.

Once research has been completed and presented, CHA will develop a prototype system that will incorporate additional technology as approved by NYSDOT. CHA will then perform roadside testing, followed by an operational pilot phase. The project will conclude with a detailed report and presentation, including data and feedback gathered from the pilot phase. CVIEW
