The two offices will play an important role in CHA's expansion plans. “Our number one strategic goal is to expand our presence in the southeast,” said Raymond J. Kinley, Jr., CEO of the firm. “We are anticipating strong federal funding support for public works projects in both North Carolina and Florida. These offices will allow us to pursue opportunities not only in the transportation sector, but in other markets such as municipal park construction, sports facility expansions, and water and sewer infrastructure improvements.”
The Raleigh, North Carolina office is expected to focus on providing sports and recreation facility engineering and planning services as well as traditional civil engineering. CHA Sports, the service group within CHA that provides sports facility planning and design services, has been successful in obtaining college sports facility construction projects in the Southeastern United States. Most recently, CHA was selected as part of a design/build team that will be installing a new synthetic turf field at Duke University.
According to Raymond Rudolph, P.E., CHA's Business Development Leader for the Sports and Recreation market, “Economic activity in North Carolina is increasing dramatically. This is creating intense competition for students at high schools and colleges, who are rising to the challenge by building state-of-the-art athletic facilities.”
The Lake City, Florida office will focus on transportation related work. Larry Stubbs, P.E., will manage the office for CHA. Florida has one of the largest state-run transportation construction programs in the country. A former Florida Department of Transportation Project Manager, Stubbs will lead CHA's transportation infrastructure design efforts in Florida. CHA's most recent designation in that state involves a street and sidewalk reconstruction project in the City of Live Oak.
CHA billed over $25 million for transportation infrastructure-related projects in 2003.
